How to fix Windows Update error 0x8024a105?

1. Restart your computer and then try to install updates again

  1. Click on the ‘Start’ button then type in ‘cmd’ and press Enter
  2. In the ‘Command Prompt’ window, type ‘net stop wuauserv’ then press Enter
  3. Type in ‘net start wuauserv’ then press Enter
  4. Type in ‘reboot’ then press Enter
  5. After your computer restarts, try to install updates again

2. Try installing updates from a different source, such as Microsoft Update or Windows Update

  1. Open Microsoft Update or Windows Update.

  6. On the next screen, select the installation type.
  7. On the next screen, select the destination folder.
  8. On the next screen, select the installation target.
  9. On the next screen, select the installation sources.
  10. On the next screen, select the restart option.
  11. On the next screen, select the finish option.
  12. After the installation is complete, restart the computer.

4. Reset the Windows Update Components

  1. Open the Windows Update Manager.
  2. In the left pane, select the update category that you want to work with.
  3. In the right pane, under "Reset all selected updates," select "Reset Windows Update Components."
  4. On the "Reset Windows Update Components" dialog box, select the components that you want to reset.
  5. Click "Reset."
  6. After the reset process is complete, close the Windows Update Manager.
