1. Restart the game

  1. Delete the "battlefield2042.ini" file in the game's installation directory.
  2. Copy the "battlefield2042.ini" file from the game's installation directory to a new location.
  3. Launch the game.
  4. Edit the "battlefield2042.ini" file in the new location.
  5. Change the value for "bEnabledPersistentStorage" to "1".
  6. Save the file.
  7. Launch the game.

2. Reload the most recent save

The most recent save must be reloaded in order to fix Battlefield 2042 unable to load persistence data. First, make sure that the game is closed and then press the Windows key + R to open the Run dialog. In the Run dialog, type "cmd" and press Enter. Type "bcdedit /set {default} systemroot=C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\game" and press Enter. Type "bcdedit /set {current} user=your_username" and press Enter. Type "bcdedit /set {default} user=administrator" and press Enter. Type "exit" and press Enter to close the command prompt window. Restart the game and load the most recent save.

3. Delete the saved data and start a new game

  1. Go to the "settings" tab and select "save data".
  2. On the "save data" screen, click on the "delete" button.
  3. Battlefield 2042 will ask you if you want to delete all data or select specific saved data. Select all saved data.
  4. Battlefield 2042 will then ask you if you want to delete the current game or start a new one. Click on the "delete current game" button.
  5. Battlefield 2042 will ask you if you want to confirm the deletion. Click on the "yes" button.
  6. Battlefield 2042 will then ask you to choose a new game name. Type in a new game name and click on the "create new game" button.

  7. Copy the "battlefield2042.exe" file from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042" folder to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\Origin Games" folder
  8. Copy the "battlefield2042.xml" file from the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\Data" folder to the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Origin Games\Battlefield 2042\Origin Games\Data" folder
  9. Launch the game and attempt to load a persistence data file
