How do I fix the error code: WUC-1002?

The wuc-1002 error code is a Windows Update error that occurs when the Windows Update service is unable to connect to the Microsoft Update server. This can happen for a number of reasons, including network connectivity issues, firewall settings, or proxy server configuration.

1. Check your internet connection and try again

  1. Check your internet connection by using a reliable internet connection tester.
  2. If the internet connection is not working, try to clear your browser cache and cookies.
  3. Try to connect to the internet again by using a different browser or by using a different device.
  4. If the problem still persists, try to reset your internet router.

2. Try the Windows Update Troubleshooter

  1. Start the Windows Update Troubleshooter by pressing the Windows key + X, typing troubleshoot, and clicking Troubleshoot.
  2. Click Advanced options on the first screen.
  3. Click on the Diagnostics tab, and then click on the Perform action on all detected problems button.
  4. Select the Update problem from the list, and then click on the Next button.
  5. Select the Update components that are not installed correctly from the list, and then click on the Next button.
  6. Select the Update rollup that is not installed correctly from the list, and then click on the Next button.
  7. Select the Check for updates for Windows from the list, and then click on the Next button.
  8. If there are any updates available, Windows will start to search for and install them. If there are any updates that need to be installed, Windows will show you a list of them and ask if you want to install them. If you choose to install them, Windows will then proceed to install them.
  9. If there are no updates available, Windows will tell you that there are no updates available and will close the troubleshooter.

3. Try resetting the Windows Update components

  1. Open the "Settings" app on your computer.
  2. Click on the "Update and Security" link.
  3. Under the "Windows Update" heading, click on the "Advanced" button.
  4. On the "Windows Update" tab, click on the "Reset" button.
  5. Click on the "Reset" button again.
  6. If the "Reset Windows Update Components" window appears, click on the "Reset" button.
  7. After the "Reset Windows Update Components" window appears, click on the "OK" button.
  8. After the "Windows Update" components have been reset, click on the "OK" button again.

4. Try running the Windows Update Troubleshooter from Safe Mode

  1. Boot your computer into Safe Mode by pressing F8 as soon as you power on your computer.
  2. On the Advanced Boot Options menu, press the Safe Mode option.
  3. When you are in Safe Mode, click on the Windows Update Troubleshooter icon.
  4. Click on the Start button and then on the All Programs menu.
  5. Double-click on the Windows Update Troubleshooter icon.
  6. On the welcome screen, click on the Next button.
  7. On the Select a Problem screen, click on the Troubleshoot option.
  8. On the next screen, select the problem that you are trying to solve.
  9. On the Next screen, you will be asked to select a solution.
  10. Click on the Next button.
  11. On the confirmation screen, click on the Finish button.

5. Try running the DISM tool

  1. Open the Windows Update Client. If you are using a desktop PC, open the Start menu, type "Windows Update," and then press ENTER.
  2. If you are using a laptop, open the Windows Update Control Panel app.
  3. In the Windows Update Control Panel app, click on the "View" tab, and then click on "Show all updates."
  4. Click on the "Install updates" link in the left column.
  5. In the "Select the update packages to install" window, click on the "Browse" button, and then select the "Windows Update" package.
  6. Click on the "Install" button.
  7. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click on the "Yes" button.
  8. When your computer restarted, click on the "Windows Update" icon in the notification area, and then click on the "Update now" link.
  9. If you are prompted to enter your Windows Update password, enter your Windows Update password.
  10. After your computer finishes updating, click on the "Windows Update" icon in the notification area, and then click on the "All updates" link.
  11. In the left column, click on the "Download" link for the update package that you want to install.
  12. After the update package is downloaded, click on the "Install" button.
  13. If you are prompted to restart your computer, click on the "Yes" button.
  14. After your computer restarted, click on the "Windows Update" icon in the notification area, and then click on the "Update now" link.
  15. If you are prompted to enter your Windows Update password, enter your Windows Update password.
  16. After your computer finishes updating, click on the "Windows Update" icon in the notification area, and then click on the "All updates" link.
  17. In the left column, click on the "Uninstall updates" link for the update package that you want to uninstall.
  18. After the update package is uninstall, click on the "Uninstall" button.
