1. Check for updates to the game
- Launch the game and sign in
- On the Home tab, click the Updates button
- On the Updates page, click Check for updates
- On the Check for updates page, click Yes, update my game
- On the updates page that appears, click Install updates
- On the updates page that appears, click Install updates
- On the following screen, click Install updates
- On the install updates screen, click Install
- On the following screen, click OK
- On the following screen, click Finish
- On the following screen, click OK
- On the following screen, verify that the "Loot error code 12" message has disappeared
- If the "Loot error code 12" message still appears, follow the steps in the "Fixing Loot Error Code 12" section below.
2. Delete the loot folder and restart the game
- In Steam, open the Steam client and sign in.
- If you don't have Steam installed, go to http://store.steampowered.com and purchase it.
- In Steam, open the Library.
- Right-click on the game Loot and select Properties.
- On the General tab, click on the Delete Local Files button.
- Click on the OK button.
- Close the Properties window.
- Click on the Play button to start the game.
- If you experience any issues after deleting the loot folder, you can restart the game to fix them.
3. Verify the game files through Steam
- Navigate to steam > Library > Games
- Right-click on the game and select "Verify Files"

4. Disable mods and restart the game

- Restart the game if it is not running.
- If the loot error code 12 still persists, try installing a new modpack.
