How do I fix an undefined code error on Plex?

There are many potential causes for the "plex error undefined code" message. This error can be caused by incorrect server settings, an outdated or corrupt Plex Media Server installation, or a problem with the client device. In some cases, this error may also be caused by a network issue or firewall configuration.

1. Check your internet connection

  1. First, open the Google Chrome web browser and type "netstat -an". This will open a window that lists all of the active network connections on your computer.
  2. Next, look for any connections that are listed as "Unknown" or "Protocol not supported". These connections may be problematic and need to be fixed.
  3. Next, try to connect to plex using the plex client that you installed on your computer. If you are unable to connect, then you will need to fix your internet connection.
  4. If you are still unable to connect, then you will need to contact your internet provider to fix the problem.

2. Check if your Plex Media Server is online

  1. Navigate to: http://plex.tv/devices
  2. If the Plex Media Server is not listed, click on the "Add a device" button at the top of the page.
  3. Input the following information into the "Device information" field:
  • IP Address: The IP address of the Plex Media Server.
  • Port: 27017
  • Username: The username for the Plex Media Server.
  • Password: The password for the Plex Media Server.
  1. Click on the "Add" button.
  2. The Plex Media Server should now be listed on the "Devices" page. If it is not, click on the " Refresh " button.
  3. Enter the following information into the "Server information" field:
  • Title: Plex
  • Description: The description of the Plex Media Server.
  • Website: The website for the Plex Media Server.
  • Language: The language of the Plex Media Server.
  1. Click on the "Update" button.

3. Restart your Plex Media Server

  1. First, open Plex Media Server on your computer.
  2. Click the "Plex" logo in the upper left corner.
  3. Click the "Settings" button in the lower left corner.
  4. Click the "Restart" button.
  5. When the Plex Media Server restart is complete, open the "Logs" tab.
  6. Review the "Plex Media Server" log file for information about the restart.
  7. If the Plex Media Server still fails to start, please submit a support ticket.

4. Update your Plex Media Server

The steps to update your Plex Media Server are as follows:

  1. Navigate to the Plex Media Server website and click on the “Update” button. 2.Input your server’s information and click on the “Update Now” button.
  2. Plex will check for updates and, if any are available, will prompt you to install them.
  3. Once the updates have been installed, Plex will restart the server.
  4. Once the server has restarted, you should see a message stating that the server is updated. If you still experience issues with your Plex Media Server, please contact our support team for assistance.
