How to fix the error code: Sec_error_ocsp_invalid_signing_cert?

Error code: sec_error_ocsp_invalid_signing_cert occurs when the OCSP server's certificate is invalid. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including the OCSP server's certificate being expired, self-signed, or not signed by a trusted CA.

1. Download a new certificate from the website

  1. Go to the website where you downloaded the certificate and click on the “Download Certificates” button.
  2. In the “Download Certificates” page, click on the “Browse” button.
  3. In the “Browse” page, select the certificate you want to download and click on the “Download” button.
  4. In the “Download” page, click on the “Agree and Download” button.
  5. In the “Agree and Download” page, click on the “Download Certificate” button.
  6. In the “Download Certificate” page, click on the “Select Files” button.
  7. In the “Select Files” page, select the file you want to download and click on the “Download” button.
  8. In the “Download” page, click on the “Close” button.
  9. In the “Close” page, click on the “OK” button.
  10. In the “OK” page, click on the “Finish” button.

2. Check if the website's certificate has been updated

  1. Navigate to the website's certificate page.
  2. Look for a green "Update Now" button next to the certificate's information.
  3. If the button is not present, then the website's certificate has not been updated and the error code will still be displayed.
  4. Click the "Update Now" button to update the website's certificate.

3. Clear Firefox's cache and cookies

  1. Open Firefox and click on the menu button (three lines in the top right corner of the browser window).
  2. Select "History" from the menu.
  3. Under the "History" tab, select the "Clear Recent History" button.
  4. Click on the "Clear Now" button.
  5. Click on the "Clear All History" button.
  6. Close Firefox.

4. Check the security settings in Firefox

To check the security settings in Firefox, follow these steps:

  1. In Firefox, click the Menu button and select Options.
  2. On the Options page, click the Security tab.
  3. Under the Security settings section, click the OCSP tab.
  4. In the OCSP response validation section, click the Enable OCSP check box.
  5. Under the OCSP response validation section, click the OCSP responder URL field and type the URL of the OCSP responder you want to use.
  6. Under the OCSP response validation section, click the Validate responses button.
  7. If the OCSP response validation section displays an error message, follow the instructions in the error message to fix the problem.

5. Update Firefox to the latest version

  1. Go to the Firefox website and click on the "Firefox" logo in the upper left corner.
  2. Click on "Help" in the menu bar and select "About Firefox."
  3. Scroll down to the "About Firefox" section and click on the "Firefox" version number.
  4. Click on "Update Firefox" to download and install the latest version of Firefox.
  5. After updating Firefox, open it and click on the "Menu" button.
  6. Select "Help" and select "About Firefox Updates."
  7. Click on "OK" to confirm that you want to install the latest Firefox update.
  8. After installing the latest Firefox update, click on the "Menu" button and select "Firefox" again.
  9. Click on "Preferences" and select "General."
  10. Click on the "Content" tab and select "oci_ocsp_response_validation."
  11. Check the "Validate certificates with OCSP" box and click on the "OK" button.
  12. Close Firefox and start it again.
  13. If the error code has been resolved, the "oci_ocsp_response_validation." box should be unchecked and the "Validate certificates with OCSP" box should be checked.

6. Reset Firefox to default settings

  1. Open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the window (known as the menu bar).
  2. Select "Help" from the menu bar and select "Troubleshooting Information".
  3. Select "Reset Firefox to its default settings".
  4. Click on "Reset Firefox" and wait for the process to complete.
  5. When Firefox has finished resetting, click on the "Finish" button.
