Error code: sec_error_ocsp_invalid_signing_cert occurs when the OCSP server's certificate is invalid. This can happen for a variety of reasons, including the OCSP server's certificate being expired, self-signed, or not signed by a trusted CA.
1. Download a new certificate from the website
- Go to the website where you downloaded the certificate and click on the “Download Certificates” button.
- In the “Download Certificates” page, click on the “Browse” button.
- In the “Browse” page, select the certificate you want to download and click on the “Download” button.
- In the “Download” page, click on the “Agree and Download” button.
- In the “Agree and Download” page, click on the “Download Certificate” button.
- In the “Download Certificate” page, click on the “Select Files” button.
- In the “Select Files” page, select the file you want to download and click on the “Download” button.
- In the “Download” page, click on the “Close” button.
- In the “Close” page, click on the “OK” button.
- In the “OK” page, click on the “Finish” button.
2. Check if the website's certificate has been updated
- Navigate to the website's certificate page.
- Look for a green "Update Now" button next to the certificate's information.
- If the button is not present, then the website's certificate has not been updated and the error code will still be displayed.
- Click the "Update Now" button to update the website's certificate.
3. Clear Firefox's cache and cookies
- Open Firefox and click on the menu button (three lines in the top right corner of the browser window).
- Select "History" from the menu.
- Under the "History" tab, select the "Clear Recent History" button.
- Click on the "Clear Now" button.
- Click on the "Clear All History" button.
- Close Firefox.
4. Check the security settings in Firefox
To check the security settings in Firefox, follow these steps:
- In Firefox, click the Menu button and select Options.
- On the Options page, click the Security tab.
- Under the Security settings section, click the OCSP tab.
- In the OCSP response validation section, click the Enable OCSP check box.
- Under the OCSP response validation section, click the OCSP responder URL field and type the URL of the OCSP responder you want to use.
- Under the OCSP response validation section, click the Validate responses button.
- If the OCSP response validation section displays an error message, follow the instructions in the error message to fix the problem.
5. Update Firefox to the latest version
- Go to the Firefox website and click on the "Firefox" logo in the upper left corner.
- Click on "Help" in the menu bar and select "About Firefox."
- Scroll down to the "About Firefox" section and click on the "Firefox" version number.
- Click on "Update Firefox" to download and install the latest version of Firefox.
- After updating Firefox, open it and click on the "Menu" button.
- Select "Help" and select "About Firefox Updates."
- Click on "OK" to confirm that you want to install the latest Firefox update.
- After installing the latest Firefox update, click on the "Menu" button and select "Firefox" again.
- Click on "Preferences" and select "General."
- Click on the "Content" tab and select "oci_ocsp_response_validation."
- Check the "Validate certificates with OCSP" box and click on the "OK" button.
- Close Firefox and start it again.
- If the error code has been resolved, the "oci_ocsp_response_validation." box should be unchecked and the "Validate certificates with OCSP" box should be checked.
6. Reset Firefox to default settings
- Open Firefox and click on the three lines in the top left corner of the window (known as the menu bar).
- Select "Help" from the menu bar and select "Troubleshooting Information".
- Select "Reset Firefox to its default settings".
- Click on "Reset Firefox" and wait for the process to complete.
- When Firefox has finished resetting, click on the "Finish" button.
