How to fix Office Error code -2147483634-8?

When you try to open a Microsoft Office application, you may get the following error: "Office Error Code -2147483634-8." This error can be caused by a variety of factors, including:

-The Office application is not installed properly.

1. Restart your computer and try again

  1. Restart your computer.
  2. Open your task manager and stop all running programs.
  3. Click on the "Start" button and then click on "Run"
  4. Type "regedit" and click on "OK"
  5. Locate the following key in the registry: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\15.0\Common\OfficeError
  6. Right-click on the key and select "Update"
  7. In the "Update" window, select the "Restart" option.
  8. Click on "Restart" to restart your computer.

2. Update your Office application

  1. Verify that you are running the most up-to-date version of the Office application.
  2. On the Microsoft Office product CD or online, go to the "Updates" folder, and then select the "Office Update" file.
  3. If you are using a Windows Update service, Windows will try to find and install the latest updates for the Office application. If you are using a self-update mechanism, you will need to download and install the updates.
  4. After the updates are installed, launch the Office application.
  5. Click the "Install Updates" button in the "File" menu.
  6. If prompted, enter the product key for the Office application.
  7. Click the "Install" button.

3. Run the Office Repair tool

4. Try opening the file in a different application

  4. Click Open.

5. Temporarily disable your antivirus software and try again

  1. Open your antivirus software and click on the "Tools" menu.
  2. Select the "Temporarily disable antivirus protection" option.
  3. Click on the "Next" button.
  4. Confirm the disablement by clicking on the "Yes" button.
  5. Restart your computer.
  6. Enter the office error code -2147483634-8 in the "Error code" field and click on the "Next" button.
  7. Follow the on-screen instructions.
