1. Check for System Software Update

PS4 error SU-30627-8 may be due to outdated firmware. If you could not access System Software Update, use Safe Mode, then select Update System Software. Update System Software allows you to update the PS4 firmware using the internet direct download or using the USB storage device.

Option 1. Update using Safe mode

Step 1. Access Safe modeTo access Safe Mode see this YouTube video or refer below.

  1. Turn off the PlayStation 4.
  2. Connect your PlayStation 4 DualShock 4 controller using the USB cable.
  3. Press and hold the power button for at least seven seconds. The second beep is the indicator to release the power button,
  4. Press PS button on the controller.

Step 2. Select Update System Software

  1. You should be able to access the safe mode. Please select Update System Software.
  2. If an update is available, update it. Wait until the process is over.
  3. Then, try playing again.
  4. If no update was found or the error persists after the software update, please see below.

2. Rebuild Database

PS4 error SU-30627-8 may be due to a corrupt firmware. Try to rebuild your firmware using the Safe mode Rebuild Database.

Step 2. Select Rebuild Database

  1. You should be able to access the safe mode. Please select the Rebuild Database.

  2. Then, try playing again.

3. Test your Hard Disk Drive

PS4 error SU-30627-8 may appear if your PS4 hard disk drive is defective. To verify, remove your hard disk drive from the PS4, connect it to a computer and then test it using the HDTune software. To use HDTune, see this YouTube instruction here.

If upon testing, a defect was found, send your PS4 to a service center for warranty claim. If the warranty is already void, buy a replacement on a computer with the same hard disk drive size.

If the hard drive is good, you may want to initialize your PS4.

4. Initialize PS4

If PS4 error SU-30627-8 still persists after trying all the previous solutions, something may have badly damaged your firmware. You may try to initialize PS4 and restore your device to factory defaults.

Step 2. Select Initialize PS4

  1. Select number 6 Initialize PS4.
  2. Wait for the process to finish.
  3. If the error persists, try again but select number 7 Initialize PS4.
